─ Please tell us about the inspiration behind the work and the creative process.
My artwork is inspired by my mother's handwriting and tags from my friends. I also draw a lot of inspiration from animations like "The Simpsons" and Japanese food packaging. I keep all of these influences within me and generate ideas from my subconscious when creating new art. It's a very natural and free method.
─Which artist or work has had the most influence on your career so far?
When I was young, I was greatly inspired by artists like Barry McGee and Os Gemeos. I have worked with them and now they are close friends.
In addition to "The Simpsons," the anime was also influenced by "Looney Tunes," "Heathcliff," and "Transformers."
Also, I was influenced by the strange Eastern European animations I saw on TV during my childhood growing up in Norway in the 1980s. I don't remember the names, but they are deeply etched in my memory.
─ Please tell us about your thoughts on holding an exhibition for the first time at Isetan Shinjuku, as well as the messages and themes embedded in your works.
The concept of this show focuses on the power of handstyle and the art of vandalism.
We Vandals (Destroyers) are often regarded as inferior to artists. However, we have spent years honing our skills and possess great creativity.
The nuances and details contained in our tags are not accidental. Every curve, connection, and arrow holds deep meaning for us. Years of culture, history, and tradition are hidden within our hand style.
─Do you have any particular style or characteristics when creating your works?
Ultimately, my style is determined by "speed." This is to execute tags and drawings quickly.
The icon I use has lines removed to speed up application. Focusing on the basic elements is important for conveying my message.
─How do you think about the impact that art works have on society and people?
My goal is to spread positive energy and encourage people to question the world around them.
"What does that mean?" "What does that signify?" I hope such questions arise in the minds of ordinary people.

─Please tell us about your future prospects and new projects.
I am currently launching a new high-end fashion brand that showcases my work alongside that of other contemporary artists. The brand is called ＜REMYNAO/Remynao＞.
This is a brand created in collaboration with my friend of over 20 years, Naotake Nogata, the former head designer of HUF USA. He is a talented and experienced Japanese designer as well as a vintage collector, possessing extensive knowledge and bringing a wealth of experience to the brand as a designer and style visionary.
─What are the highlights or special moments in your career as an artist?
Expanding from the streets to spaces like Isetan Shinjuku and museums like Watarium, as well as numerous galleries around the world, has been a great joy for me, and through these experiences, I have been able to explore new ideas and themes. I am grateful for art in my life and its further power.
─ Please tell us what you want to convey to the people who will be viewing your work this time.
Please openly embrace the power of graffiti tags as an art form (letters drawn in a single color).
