Vintage pottery brand "Hornsea" has arrived from the UK
Hornsea is a wonderful history of British design involving masters of British patterns and ceramic design.
Hornsea Pottery was established in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson. Influenced by various designs, it rapidly grew from a company selling accessories to seaside tourists into the world's largest studio pottery with over 700 employees.
Hornsea's rapid growth has been driven by its widely popular and inspiring designs. Hornsea has developed unique groundbreaking technologies and designs.
For 50 years until its closure in 2000, Magpie has been reproducing numerous masterpieces, including the illustrated works of John Clappison. As an avid fan of mid-century design, Magpie believes that the legacy of Hornsea Pottery must not be forgotten and should be cherished by future generations as well.
The cat and owl design was created in 1967 by John Clappison, who was the chief designer at Hornsea Pottery.
From the original illustrations preserved at the Hornsey Museum, these very cute animals have been redrawn, new ceramic molds have been created for the cruet set and money box, and glazes have been applied using the authentic Hornsey colors from that time.
This adorable piggy bank is made of stoneware and is hand-glazed, making each piece a unique product.
