BEYOND THE STREETS Publishing and CONTROL Gallery have completed a sketchbook by Mr. Cartoon, a leading artist representing Los Angeles. This 180-page book, featuring over 290 drawings, showcases the creative process behind two decades of work from various perspectives, including tattoos, magazines, commercial projects, and pieces that never left the studio.
"Over the past 20 years, I have accumulated countless drawings in my drawer that I never thought would see the light of day. Many of them are unfinished in many ways, but they offer a glimpse into how I first began to develop ideas that would become tattoos, magazine illustrations, and even logo artwork. These pen and pencil drawings are raw and far from polished, not digital like many recent works. They are old-fashioned sketches on paper, and I look forward to seeing them compiled and presented in a way that celebrates my journey as an artist. It's important to remain loose and fluid to express all the ideas in my head, rather than always striving for perfection," says Mr. Cartoon.
