Vintage pottery brand "Hornsea" has arrived from the UK
Hornsea is a great story of British design involving masters of British patterns and ceramic design.
Hornsea Pottery was established in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson. Influenced by various designs, it rapidly grew from a company selling accessories to seaside tourists into the world's largest studio pottery with over 700 employees.
Hornsea's rapid growth was driven by its widely popular and inspiring designs. Hornsea developed unique groundbreaking technologies and designs.
For 50 years until its closure in 2000, Magpie has been reproducing numerous masterpieces, including the illustrated works of John Clappison. As passionate fans of mid-century design, Magpie believes that the legacy of Hornsea Pottery must not be forgotten and should be cherished by future generations as well.
Magpie has redrawn this stylish bird from the original illustration kept at the Hornsey Museum, created new ceramic molds in two sizes, and glazed them using the authentic colors of Hornsey from that time.
This bird dish is made of stoneware and is hand-glazed, making each piece uniquely different in appearance.
